— Overview

Paxos is a regulated financial institution issuing multiple stablecoins including PayPal USD (PYUSD), USDG, and formerly BUSD. The company holds a New York State trust charter and operates under a level of regulatory oversight unusual for the crypto category.

The stablecoin issuance business has become the most consequential product line — PYUSD alone crossed $2B in circulation within its first 18 months, and USDG (issued in partnership with a global consortium) is targeting institutional flows in Europe and Asia.

The regulated-issuer position is a durable moat that competitors without banking-grade oversight cannot easily replicate.
